Bryce's Success Story
When Bryce, a grade 5 student at Cranbrook's Amy Woodland Elementary School, received his SET-BC desktop Mac in the winter of 2008, he was just beginning to learn phonemic awareness. At that time, the only word he could independently identify was his own name, and "writing" consisted of copying dotted letters.

John: A Director in the Making
It’s not often that an exceptional student comes along who continues his record of excellence despite extreme physical setback. John is a student in his final year at Sentinel Secondary in West Vancouver, a student with a reputation as an accomplished mountain biker. Following a mountain biking injury which left him with quadriplegia, he worked with staff at GF Strong, Jill Harburn, Helen Karabelas and Robyn Littleford, who indicated that he is highest achieving student they have seen come through the rehabilitation centre.
Rebecca and Timmy Meet for First Time
In the spring of 2008, the Virtual Voices Village website ran a contest asking BC students with disabilities to design a mascot for the website, and Timmy Technology was the winning entry by Rebecca from Delta BC.
Jelissa Wins Premier's Excellence Award
The Premier's Excellence Awards recognize the best all-round Grade 12 graduate in each college region of the province. The Award considers academic performance, service to the community and school service and participation.
Rhianna – Braille Challenge Champion
Golf may have Tiger Woods but we have Rhianna, who won her second Braille Challenge Championship in Los Angeles on June 28th. Rhianna, who is supported by her vision teacher Beth Newman, is moving on to grade 7 this fall in Campbell River.
Alisa – Classroom Connection
Sometimes the best assistive technology is right at your fingertips! Alisa, a 12 year old student attending school in the lower mainland, was anticipating being away from school for up to six weeks as a result of a scheduled surgery. Her school based team and family agreed that it was very important to keep Alisa connected .

Rebecca is a very creative and engaging 9 year old student. With the help of technology, she is meeting the challenge of her fine motor difficulties.

Clayton Takes Control of his Assistive Technology
Clayton is in Grade 9 at KLO Middle School in Kelowna. He has cerebral palsy which limits his ability to handwrite with speed and legibility.
Travis Discovers the Joy of Reading
Travis, a grade 6 student attending school in the Okanagan area, has discovered the joy of reading! He uses his laptop and literacy support software to read mystery stories and write poetry.
Jonathan
Johnathan is an enthusiastic Grade 6 Vancouver student who has been supported by SET BC with computers since he was in Grade 1. He has cerebral palsy and is unable to speak in the traditional way but he knows how to make himself heard. He loves computers and uses them for work, fun, and communication.
