ARC-BC: Support Resources (2008)

This collection of webcasts, demonstrations and related materials supports ARC-BC (Accessible Resource Centre - British Columbia). ARC-BC is a Ministry of Education funded provincial collection of alternate format materials based on recommended resources for the BC K-12 curriculum. It contains digital resources in a variety of formats created for students with perceptual disabilities. Module One - Alternate Format Educational Materials

This module contains general information about alternate format materials including what they are, who requires them, how they are created, what file types are typically available, where they can be obtained, and the relevant copyright legislation governing alternate format materials.

Module Two - Canadian Copyright Act (CCA) and Alternate Format Educational Materials

This module contains important information on the Canadian Copyright Act (CCA) and alternate format materials including why it is important to understand the legislation, what the CCA states regarding alternate format materials and what impact the CCA have on the creation, acquisition, and use of these materials.

Module Three – ARC-BC

This module contains information about ARC-BC (Accessible Resource Centre – British Columbia) including a description of ARC-BC, an outline of 2007-2008 activities, a description of the ARC-BC Pilot Project, and plans for the 2008-2009 school year.

Module Four - ARC-BC Partnerships

This module contains information for groups interested in joining the ARC-BC community including BC school districts, other alternate format producers and publishers.

Module Five - ARC-BC Technical Information

ARC-BC including the network issues BC school districts should address to ensure effective access to the ARC-BC repository.

Module Six - ARC-BC Registration

This module contains information about registering for ARC-BC including who is eligible for registration, how to submit a registration request, and how to manage your user profile once registration is approved.

Module Seven - ARC-BC Searching the Collection

This module contains information on searching the ARC-BC alternate format collection including performing simple and advanced searches, Main Library and Community search results, and downloading one or more files.
